Halloween/ Fall Decorations

Today I decorated for Halloween/ Fall. I love the holidays!!! And I want my kids to love them too.  So here are some of the decorations that I did.

Our front door has turned into a mummy!!!!  Thank-you Pinterest!  Love this!  I used 3 rolls of white streamer paper.  And then I made the eyes.  The white is printer paper and the black is felt.  Easy!

A view when you walk up to the door!

The fireplace

The lights... and yes they work!

The outside is started, but I have to get some pumpkins tomorrow.  :)

Harry Potter Theme Party

Yesterday we had my oldest son’s 12th birthday party. It was a Harry Potter theme party. My son has loved Harry Potter for several years now, actually it is one of the things that he talks about over and over. And to be honest I have read all 7 years and seen all 8 movies. I, too, love Harry Potter. JK Rowling is a genius!
I created a lot of things for his party. I actually let my creativity run wild, and Pinterest helped a lot too! I also did a lot of googling for Harry Potter theme parties… some people are SOOOOO creative!! If I had more money, and more time there is no telling what all I would of done.

I made this sign for the porch... I painted it red and then used gold paint for the words and numbers... simple!  :)

This my husband basically did for me... ok, he painted it (thanks hubby).  It is a brown curtain and for the red bricks he used a sponge.  He did cut a slit in it so the people could walk through it.

One set of cupcakes.

Another set.. Owls!  Oreos and m&ms.  :)

a 3rd set... quidditch cupcakes

The cupcakes on a stand on the table.

The table in the kitchen

The wands that I made.  They are sticks with hot glue on them and then I painted them in different colors.

The other table.  There are ties, a sorting hat, wands, glasses, and na Honey Dukes Candy Shop.

The house symbols and flags.  Printed the symbols off the internet.

The ties (here is a link - http://thebrilliantcraftytype.blogspot.com/2012/04/felt-hogwarts-ties-tutorial.html).   The sorting hat, I made.  It is a witches Halloween hat.  I got paper and crumbled it up and hot glued it to the hat.  Then sprayed hat the whole things brown.  The glasses I ordered from a party supply store.

More decorations.

Potter baby!

He is casting a spell!  :)

The birthday boy!

Little brother as Harry Potter!

Little Potter Girl!  She is a beauty!

My other two didn't want to take pictures, my 8 year old was trying to be "cool" like his oldest brother.  And my 6 year old didn't like the ties at all.

Here are some other sites that I used for ideas.

9 Months Old!!!

Little Mr. Moody is 9 months old!  He isn't crawling yet.  But he can get to what he wants.  He does get up on all fours and rocks.  He also scoots everywhere, both on his stomach and his butt.  He has been doing that for a month or so.  He STILL doesn't sleep well, I think I am throwing in the towel on sleep.  LOL!  He LOVES to be held.  He likes lighting mcqueen, balls, bath time, and being outside.

This is what a shoot looks like with him!  He hates the camera too.  :)

Lost

Everyone deals with pain and loss in their own way.  What works for some, doesn't work for others.  The saying "time heals all pain", is true for most everyone.  Time does make it easier to deal with pain and loss.  But does it ever really go away?  Maybe for some.  I am not sure.  For me, not all the way.  5 years ago yesterday I suffered a first miscarriage.  I still remember it like it was yesterday, even though it has been 5 years.  I remember the pain I felt, mainly mental with this miscarriage.  With my second miscarriage, which was January 4, 2008, that was both mental and physical.  In reality, we are not suppose to discuss a miscarriage, we are suppose to pretend that it didn't happen.  Society doesn't deal with miscarriage.  They pretend.  The women that have had miscarriages are expected to pretend.  To some miscarriage isn't a real thing.  But after you see a heart beating on an ultrasound and see arms and legs moving around... isn't that real?

With my first miscarriage, I knew from early on (3-4 weeks pregnant) that the baby wasn't going to make it.  I had never lost one before, but I couldn't stop bleeding.  I had had 4 healthy boys, the younger 3's pregnancy were rough and I had bleeding through the pregnancies but not like what I was experiencing.  I kept telling my doctor something was wrong, he kept telling me I was ok.  My numbers were ok.  We did discuss what would happen if I did have a miscarriage.  He mentioned that if the baby doesn't make it, then they may have to do a D&C, which I told him wasn't going to happen.  No one was taking my baby from me.  It didn't come to that.  On September 23rd, I ended up in the ER since the bleeding was way worse, and they confirmed my numbers were dropping at that point.  I was sent home to deal with having a miscarriage.

The mental pain I felt was almost too much to bare.  All I did was cry, for days, weeks, months.  And to turn around and get pregnant again and lose another one was even more crushing.  That miscarriage was a lot worse though.  I may write about that one in January, we will see.

So to those that have lost, I feel your pain, and nothing I say will take that away from you.

To my sweet Angel- I choose to call you by a name, to send you a balloon on your birthday, and light a candle to remember you.  Because I won't forget about you, or pretend that you didn't happen.

Pinkitzel's Salted Caramel

Yesterday I tried Pinkitzel's Salted Caramel.  It was interesting.  It is a chocolate cake with very running caramel in the middle of it.  With some pink icing, I am not really sure what the icing was it.  it was my favorite part of this cupcake though.  I probably wouldn't get it again though.

Fall Wreath

Fall is my favorite season!  I love the colors, the cooler weather.  I wrapped a Styrofoam wreath with yarn.  And then I dropped it and the wreath broke in half!!  So I got another wreath and wrapped it.  Thankfully I haven't dropped this one yet.  It's simple, but I like it.  I can add to it, if I want, but I kind of like how simple it is.  At least for now.  :) Tomorrow at 9:45AM starts Autumn!!  Happy Fall!!

HAIR

I have a love hate relationship with my hair... ok, that isn't true, I only like it because it covers my head.  I have had the same style since I was... born?  Actually I use to have bangs, and I grew them out when I was 15, but even with bangs, my hair looked the same.  I have the little house on the prairie look.  I'm not crazy about the length yet, but it is growing... SLOWLY!!  If I donate my hair for a 6th time, I won't cut as much next time.  So today I did some different ways to part my hair.  Keep in mind I am not good at doing hair, I barely know what I am doing.  :)

First photo, me normally.. little house on the prairie.

Second one, I combed my hair to my left.... it looked weird.  I felt like I was balding and was combing over to hide it.

And then to the right... this one wasn't bad, for some unknown reason I thought I had to hold my head like that, like my hair was going to flip back.  LOL!

So now back to little house on the prairie, maybe someday I will find a NEW me!
